Afghanistan, June 16 -- Iranian media reported on Tuesday that the United States has begun easing its naval blockade of Iran, with several Iranian cargo vessels passing through previously restricted waters as negotiations advance toward a final agreement between the two countries.

Iran's semi-official Tasnim news agency reported that five Iranian cargo ships had successfully crossed the blockade zone. An Iranian source cited by the agency said Washington had sought to link the lifting of the blockade to the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, but Tehran rejected that condition.
