Afghanistan, July 29 -- Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy said early Wednesday it "targeted and stopped" three oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz, alleging the vessels ignored repeated warnings and violated what it described as navigation regulations in the strategically vital waterway.
In a statement carried by Iranian media, the IRGC said the vessels were intercepted "a few hours ago" after they allegedly failed to comply with warnings from Iranian naval forces. The military did not identify the tankers, disclose their ownership or nationalities, or specify the nature of the alleged violations.
