Afghanistan, May 18 -- Iran has arrested more than 6,500 people on charges including espionage and treason since the start of the conflict involving United States and Israel, Iranian authorities said Monday.
According to Al Jazeera, Iranian police commander Ahmad Reza Radan said the arrests were linked to accusations of "betrayal and espionage" during the ongoing conflict.
Iranian authorities have previously carried out large-scale arrests following anti-government protests, accusing protesters and activists of cooperating with Israel and the United States.
