Afghanistan, March 1 -- Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian announced that the country's temporary leadership council has officially begun its duties following the death of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. In his first video message since Khamenei's death, broadcast Sunday on state television, Pezeshkian said the council started work earlier in the day.
Pezeshkian stated that the council would continue Khamenei's path "with strength and determination" until a permanent successor is chosen. He emphasized stability and unity during what he described as a sensitive period for the country.
