Afghanistan, Oct. 27 -- Iran has executed an Afghan prisoner on drug charges, a rights group says, as executions for narcotics offences continue rising across the country.
Iran has executed an Afghan prisoner convicted of drug-related offences, according to the Norway-based Iran Human Rights (IHR) organisation. The group reported that seven Iranian nationals were also executed in prisons across the country.
IHR identified the Afghan inmate as 59-year-old Eslam Mir Saeed, whose death sentence was carried out on 20 October in Yazd Central Prison. The organisation said his 21-year-old son remains imprisoned with a nine-year sentence for alleged complicity.
