Afghanistan, July 5 -- Iran executed at least 109 prisoners in June, including five Afghan nationals, according to Iranian Kurdish human rights organization Hengaw, which said the figure represented an increase from the same month last year.

In a report published on Saturday, Hengaw said it had documented and verified the identities of 109 people executed in prisons across Iran during June 2026. The organization said the total was at least 10% higher than the number of executions recorded in June 2025.

According to the report, five political prisoners were among those executed. Hengaw also said five Afghan citizens were executed during the month but did not disclose their identities or the charges against them.
