Afghanistan, March 30 -- Iran's Revolutionary Guards have confirmed the death of Alireza Tangsiri, commander of the force's naval arm, days after Israel announced that it had targeted him in a strike, marking another high-profile loss for Tehran's military leadership.
In a statement released on Monday, the Guards said Tangsiri died from the severity of his injuries. Reuters reported that the confirmation came four days after Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz said Tangsiri had been killed in an Israeli operation.
Israel had earlier described Tangsiri as a central figure in Iran's naval operations and accused him of playing a direct role in actions linked to the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's most sensitive oil shipping routes. His...
