Afghanistan, June 13 -- Five Indian Air Force personnel were killed when a military transport aircraft crashed while landing at an air base in India's northeastern state of Assam on Saturday, officials said.

The Antonov An-32 aircraft overturned and caught fire while attempting to land during a routine training flight at Jorhat Air Force Station, according to Indian media reports.

"The Indian Air Force deeply regrets the loss of five personnel in the An-32 accident at Jorhat," the air force said in a statement.
