Afghanistan, Aug. 19 -- Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi stressed in New Delhi that India and China must treat each other as partners, not rivals, while discussing border, trade, and cooperation.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with his Indian counterpart Subrahmanyam Jaishankar in New Delhi on Monday, urging both nations to view each other as partners rather than rivals.

In a statement, China's foreign ministry said Beijing is committed to the principle of "friendship and mutual benefit" in its relations with New Delhi.

Jaishankar confirmed that the talks addressed sensitive border issues as well as trade, economic ties, cultural exchanges, and the sharing of river-related information.
