At least 37 civilians, including women and children, were killed and several others injured after unidentified gunmen opened fire in a village in western Afghanistan, according to local sources, in one of the deadliest recent attacks on civilians in the region.
The attack took place in the Deh Miry area of Injil district in Herat Province, where armed assailants reportedly targeted families inside residential compounds, raising alarm over the safety of civilians in rural communities.
