Afghanistan, Aug. 10 -- Bollywood actor Govinda has recalled one of the most painful periods of his life, saying the death of his mother in 1996 left him so devastated that he entered the Narmada River believing he might somehow meet her again.

Speaking to ANI, Govinda described the deep grief he experienced after his mother, Nirmala Devi, died on June 15, 1996, at the age of 69. He said he was overwhelmed by emotional pain and felt at the time that "everything was over."
