Afghanistan, May 19 -- Friedrich Merz has called on Iran to stop threatening neighboring countries and reopen the Strait of Hormuz without restrictions amid rising tensions in the Middle East.
In a post on X, Merz expressed concern over the escalating regional crisis and warned that attacks on nuclear facilities could endanger civilians across the region.
He urged Tehran to resume negotiations with the United States, reduce tensions and halt threats against neighboring states.
Meanwhile, Johann Wadephul said European countries are discussing ways to help secure the Strait of Hormuz in coordination with regional partners.
