Afghanistan, Aug. 22 -- Five Iranian security forces were killed in Sistan and Baluchestan after gunmen ambushed two patrol vehicles.
Iranian security officials reported on Friday, August 22, that five security personnel were killed in an armed attack in Sistan and Baluchestan province. The assailants opened fire on two police patrol units.
The attack took place in Iranshahr, where armed men ambushed the patrols before fleeing the scene. Security forces have since launched a search and pursuit operation to track down the attackers.
Local outlet Halvash, reported that two military vehicles were targeted. After halting the vehicles, the assailants seized weapons from the security personnel.
