Afghanistan, July 21 -- The bodies of five Afghan young men from Mir Qasim Jan village in Chamtal district of northern Balkh province were buried on Tuesday after they reportedly died while travelling to Iran through an irregular migration route, local sources said.
The five men had reportedly left their homes about a week earlier in an attempt to travel to Iran. According to local sources, they died in the deserts of Nimroz province due to extreme heat and a lack of drinking water.
Their deaths highlight the dangers faced by Afghans travelling through unofficial routes to reach Iran, particularly across remote desert areas where extreme temperatures, dehydration and limited access to water can pose serious risks.
