Afghanistan, Sept. 15 -- The first U.S. Inspector General report on Operation Epic Fury says the military campaign against Iran cost the United States an estimated $33.4 billion by June 29, 2026, while 14 American service members were killed and 417 were wounded during the operation. The report also warns that the war significantly depleted U.S. munitions stockpiles and exposed weaknesses in the country's defense industrial base.
The report, prepared for the U.S. Congress, is the first official oversight assessment of the operation.
