Afghanistan, April 21 -- Kash Patel, head of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, has filed a $250 million defamation lawsuit against The Atlantic in a federal court in Washington, D.C.
Patel accused the magazine of publishing false information and damaging his reputation, calling the report "completely untrue" and legally actionable.
The lawsuit follows an article alleging that Patel's behaviour, including heavy drinking and unexplained absences, posed risks to U.S. national security.
The Atlantic published the report on Friday under one headline before later changing it online without explaining the reason for the revision.
