Afghanistan, Sept. 23 -- Afghan cyclist Fariba Hashimi won a historic silver medal in the women's road race at the 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya on Tuesday, becoming the first Afghan woman to win a cycling medal at the Asian Games and the country's first female Asiad medalist in more than two decades.
Hashimi crossed the finish line in 2 hours, 50 minutes and 5 seconds, narrowly missing gold in a sprint finish. China's Li Guo claimed the gold medal by a fraction of a second, while Hong Kong's Leung Wing Yee finished third to take bronze.
