Afghanistan, Aug. 29 -- Europe urges Iran to negotiate with the U.S. and cooperate with the IAEA, but Tehran resists, condemning sanctions and warning renewed pressure may escalate regional tensions.
France's Foreign Minister has emphasized that recent policy moves toward Iran do not signal the end of diplomacy. Meanwhile, Germany has urged Tehran to enter direct talks with the United States within a month and fully cooperate with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
Tehran, however, has condemned Europe's stance as politically motivated and tension-inducing. A senior Iranian official told domestic media that Europe, under Washington's pressure, is prioritizing sanctions and threats instead of honoring its commitments.
