Afghanistan, March 15 -- The European Union has extended sanctions against more than 2,600 Russian individuals and entities for another six months, maintaining pressure on Russia over its actions against Ukraine.

In a statement released Saturday, the EU said the restrictive measures will remain in place until 15 September, targeting people and organizations accused of undermining Ukraine's sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence.

According to the EU announcement, two individuals were removed from the sanctions list during the latest review process, while the names of five people who have died were also deleted from the list.
