Afghanistan, March 3 -- The Ministry of Defense of Saudi Arabia announced that two drones struck a diplomatic building in Riyadh, causing a limited fire and material damage.
According to Reuters, citing informed sources late Monday, March 2, explosions were heard and black smoke was seen rising from the Saudi capital's diplomatic quarter.
The Embassy of the United States, Riyadh issued a security alert advising American citizens in Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dhahran to remain indoors and avoid visiting the embassy until further notice.
Saudi authorities have not immediately attributed responsibility for the drone strike, but security forces reportedly responded quickly to contain the fire and secure the surrounding area.
