Afghanistan, May 24 -- At least 34 people were killed and 96 others wounded in a suicide bombing targeting a passenger train in Quetta, according to local sources, though Pakistani authorities have not yet officially confirmed the casualty figures.

Pakistani media reported that the explosion occurred Sunday near the Chaman railway crossing in Quetta, the capital of Balochistan province, as a passenger train was passing through the area.

The blast damaged the train, derailed several carriages and triggered a fire near the railway track, while emergency teams transported wounded passengers to hospitals across the city.
