Afghanistan, July 22 -- At least 23 people have been killed and more than 100 remain missing after flash floods swept through parts of Afghanistan's northeastern Nuristan province, Taliban officials said, as search and rescue operations continued in areas affected by widespread destruction.
The Taliban's National Disaster Management Authority said on Tuesday that the bodies of 15 victims had been recovered and about 80 people injured. The authority said the death toll could rise as rescue teams reach affected areas and continue searching for those missing.
