Afghanistan, June 30 -- Venezuela's death toll from the recent powerful earthquakes has risen to 1,719, authorities said on Monday, as rescue teams continued searching for survivors and residents complained that humanitarian assistance was arriving too slowly.

International media reported that search-and-rescue teams from about 30 countries have been deployed to the affected areas, bringing emergency personnel, medical supplies and humanitarian aid to support local authorities.

The United States Geological Survey (USGS) said a 4.6-magnitude aftershock struck north of Caracas, raising concerns about further damage and complicating ongoing rescue operations.
