Afghanistan, March 5 -- China said it will send a special envoy to the Middle East to help mediate efforts aimed at stopping the escalating regional conflict.
The Chinese foreign ministry said on Thursday, March 5, that Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talks with his Saudi Arabian counterpart about the worsening crisis.
Beijing said it could not remain a passive observer as the war intensifies and urged all sides to pursue diplomatic solutions to end hostilities.
In a statement, the ministry called on all parties to halt military operations immediately, return to dialogue and prevent further escalation in the region.
