Afghanistan, July 23 -- China began two days of live-fire military drills on Thursday in waters near its southeastern Fujian province, a day after U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talks that included Taiwan.
Reuters reported on Thursday that the drills began a day after Rubio and Wang met on the sidelines of a regional gathering in Manila, where they discussed Taiwan and other issues in the U.S.-China relationship. The timing of the exercises does not by itself establish that they were announced in response to the meeting.
