Afghanistan, May 13 -- China says it supports Pakistan's mediation efforts between the United States and Iran and is ready to assist efforts aimed at restoring regional peace.
China's foreign ministry said Wednesday that Wang Yi discussed the regional situation in a phone call with Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar.
According to the ministry, Wang praised Pakistan's role in facilitating dialogue between Washington and Tehran and helping extend a temporary ceasefire linked to the recent regional conflict.
China also voiced support for efforts to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and restore stability in the region after weeks of tensions linked to the U.S.-Iran war.
