Afghanistan, April 2 -- Ukraine says it will receive 20 million Canadian dollars from Canada to help rebuild its damaged energy sector and strengthen electricity generation capacity amid continuing pressure on the national grid.
Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko welcomed the new support and thanked Ottawa for its continued backing, saying the contribution will go to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund to help restore and reinforce critical infrastructure.
The funding is intended to support repairs, energy equipment procurement and more resilient electricity generation, as Ukraine continues to deal with severe damage to its power system caused by attacks and harsh weather conditions.
