Afghanistan, Aug. 18 -- Richard Bennett, the UN Special Rapporteur on human rights in Afghanistan, has warned that restrictions on Afghan women and girls are causing serious social, economic and psychological consequences.
On August 17, Bennett said Afghan women and girls must regain their fundamental rights, including access to education and employment, freedom of movement and expression, and the ability to participate fully in public life.
Addressing Afghan women directly, Bennett said: "You are not alone. We have not forgotten you."
