Afghanistan, June 16 -- China has called on member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) to strengthen cooperation in support of Afghanistan's economic recovery and regional stability, saying coordinated efforts are needed to address shared security and development challenges.

Speaking at a special event in Beijing marking the 25th anniversary of the SCO, a senior Chinese diplomat said closer regional coordination could help address growing economic and security pressures. He urged member states to expand cooperation and play a more active role in supporting Afghanistan's reconstruction and development.
