Afghanistan, July 28 -- A senior official was killed in a targeted attack in Afghanistan's northeastern Badakhshan province on Tuesday, the official confirmed, highlighting persistent security challenges despite claims of maintaining nationwide stability.
The Taliban's police command in Badakhshan said Zabihullah Amiri, the group's director of Information and Culture in the province, was attacked while traveling to his office along the Baharak-Faizabad highway. According to the statement, two armed men on a motorcycle opened fire on Amiri's vehicle.
