Afghanistan, Oct. 14 -- Torrential rains and flooding that swept across parts of Mexico over the past week have killed at least 64 people, authorities said on Monday, as search and rescue operations continue for dozens still missing.

Government officials said 65 people remain unaccounted for after days of relentless rainfall triggered flash floods and landslides across several regions, particularly in the southern and central states. Entire communities have been cut off as swollen rivers overflowed and roads were washed away.
