Afghanistan, June 22 -- Iran has executed three Afghan nationals on drug-related charges in separate prisons, according to the Kurdish human rights organization Hengaw, which says the number of Afghan citizens executed in the country this year has continued to rise.

Hengaw reported that two Afghan men were executed on Sunday in Shiraz Central Prison. The organization identified them as Khalilzadi, 55, from Jalalabad, and Ahmad Shahi, 40, from Khost. According to the group, both men had been sentenced to death in separate narcotics-related cases after being arrested one and two years ago.
