Afghanistan, June 2 -- German police said an Afghan man accused of killing his former wife in the eastern city of Chemnitz was arrested in the Czech Republic after fleeing across the border and is expected to be extradited to Germany.

Police said a 38-year-old Afghan woman was killed and a 20-year-old woman was seriously injured in the attack, which took place in an apartment in Chemnitz, located in the eastern state of Saxony.

Emergency services responded to the scene at around 4:25 a.m. local time after receiving a distress call. The older woman died despite efforts by paramedics, while the younger victim was taken to hospital with severe injuries.

According to investigators, the suspect fled Germany by car shortly after the attack. Cz...
