Afghanistan, May 21 -- Afghan journalist Parwiz Aminzada was detained by Pakistani police in Islamabad on Wednesday evening during ongoing enforcement actions targeting Afghan nationals.

According to local sources, Aminzada was arrested around 6:45 pm in the Faisal Town area of the Pakistani capital. Authorities have not yet issued an official statement regarding the reasons for his detention or his current legal status.

Thousands of Afghan journalists, activists and former government employees fled to neighboring countries, including Pakistan and Iran, after the Taliban returned to power in 2021, seeking protection from possible reprisals and instability.
