Afghanistan, April 4 -- A 20-year-old Afghan-American man has been sentenced to three years in federal prison in the United States after prosecutors said he attempted to travel overseas to support the Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISIS-K) and planned to continue onward to Afghanistan or Syria.
The U.S. Justice Department said Humzah Mashkoor, from Westminster, Colorado, was arrested at Denver International Airport in December 2023 before boarding a flight to the United Arab Emirates, where he allegedly intended to transfer funds and then move toward ISIS-controlled networks.
