Afghanistan, Aug. 18 -- Activists are urging Berlin to urgently transfer 2,000 Afghan refugees stranded in Pakistan, warning that arrests and deportations risk sending them back into dangerous conditions in Afghanistan.
Human rights defenders, civil society groups, and protest movements have urged Germany to act quickly on behalf of more than 2,000 Afghan refugees holding official acceptance letters.
In an open letter on Monday, August 18, they appealed directly to German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and senior officials to ensure the refugees' safe transfer to Germany.
