Afghanistan, March 11 -- Abdul Salam Zaeef, a former Taliban ambassador to Pakistan, has proposed that Gulf and other Arab countries form a joint federal government to strengthen regional cooperation and security.
Writing on X on Tuesday, Zaeef described the current geopolitical situation as a "golden opportunity" for Gulf states and the broader Arab world to build a stronger political and strategic alliance.
He said such a federal structure could unite regional forces by integrating armies, intelligence services, and other institutions into a shared framework designed to improve coordination among member states.
