Afghanistan, July 5 -- At least eight people, including four children, were injured in a shooting in the Coney Island neighborhood of New York City on Saturday night as the United States marked the 250th anniversary of its independence, police said.
According to the New York Police Department (NYPD), the shooting occurred at about 10:37 p.m. local time on West 31st Street in Brooklyn. Officers responding to reports of gunfire found multiple people with gunshot wounds.
Police said the victims include two men, two women and four children aged 14, 12, 7 and 6. All were taken to hospitals for treatment. Authorities said seven victims were in stable condition, while a 21-year-old woman remained in critical condition.
