Afghanistan, Aug. 17 -- At least seven people were killed and more than a dozen injured in a stampede-like incident at the Ashok Dham temple in India's eastern Bihar state on Monday, as thousands of devotees gathered for prayers during the Hindu holy month of Shravan.

Reuters reported Monday that police were investigating whether a falling electricity pole triggered panic among worshippers, leading to the deadly incident at the temple in Lakhisarai district. A senior police officer told ANI that people may have been electrocuted after the pole fell, but said the exact cause would be established only after a full investigation.
