Afghanistan, May 11 -- The International Organization for Migration said recent floods in eastern Afghanistan's Nangarhar province have affected around 2,000 families, damaging homes, farmland and basic infrastructure across several districts.

In a report released on Monday, the organization said emergency relief items had been distributed to affected families as humanitarian teams continued assessing urgent needs in flood-hit communities.

The agency said many residents lost homes, agricultural land and household property after heavy seasonal flooding swept through parts of Nangarhar, worsening humanitarian challenges already facing vulnerable families in the province.
