Afghanistan, Feb. 7 -- Fourteen Afghan citizens have been released from prisons in Azerbaijan and are expected to return home following their official release, authorities said.

The Taliban-run Foreign Ministry announced that Azerbaijan has released 14 citizens from its prisons following an order by the Azerbaijani leadership, however the reasons behind the arrests were not disclosed.

This comes amid the last week's release of 108 Afghan prisoners from the United Arab Emirates, freed as part of the UAE's National Day clemency measures.

Taliban authorities said some released citizens have already returned home, while legal procedures continue for transferring remaining detainees back to Afghanistan.
