Afghanistan, March 24 -- The Afghanistan Football Federation said 10 national team players have withdrawn from the squad ahead of upcoming copetition in the Asian Cup qualifiers.

The federation cited family issues, security concerns in the Middle East, and club-related injuries as the main reasons behind the late withdrawals.

Afghanistan was scheduled to face Myanmar and Syria in the qualification matches. Officials said most of the players had initially confirmed their availability but pulled out at the last moment, creating challenges for team preparations.

Head coach Jose Antonio Nogueira said the team may shift its focus toward domestic players after these matches to build a more committed and accessible squad.
