Jammu, April 27 -- A wanted gangster and drug smuggler was apprehended after an exchange of fire with police in the Miran Sahib area here late Sunday night, officials said.

An official told news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS) Police acting on specific intelligence laid a strategic trap near the designated area to intercept Abhineet Singh alias Nagi and his associates, an official said.

Singh, a history-sheeter wanted in over 13 pending FIRs including attempt to murder, rioting and arms smuggling, tried to break the naka (checkpoint) on a motorcycle along with an associate, the official said.
