Sopore, April 24 -- Police in north Kashmir's Sopore town have warned medical shop owners to strictly adhere to prescription norms or face being treated on a par with drug peddlers.
Speaking to news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS) SSP Sopore Iftikhar Talib said no medicine should be sold without a prescription and directed chemists to install CCTV cameras on their premises and maintain all records.
"If any shopkeeper is found violating these norms in medical shops, we will treat him as a drug peddler," the officer said during a mega awareness rally at Chijhama.
He said the move aims to curb the misuse of scheduled drugs and tighten the noose around illegal pharmacies operating in the town. (KNS)
