Jammu, Aug. 26 -- The pilgrimage to the revered Mata Vaishno Devi shrine has been halted due to continuous heavy rainfall in the region since late last night.

Officials from the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) confirmed that the Himkoti route was the first to be closed as rain intensified, prompting the suspension of the entire yatra for safety reasons.
