The first earthquake, measuring 4.5 magnitude, occurred at 1:51 am, followed by a 4.2-magnitude tremor at 4:28 am. Both quakes were recorded with their epicentres around Kalai in Mugu district. India's National Centre for Seismology (NCS) also recorded the tremors, though it measured the second earthquake at 4.0 magnitude.
