Srinagar, April 16 -- Police in Sopore on Thursday arrested three persons for allegedly spreading rumours and sharing old videos on social media by projecting them as recent incidents to disturb public order, officials said.

A case (FIR No. 93/2026) was registered at Police Station Sopore against those involved in circulating misleading content on various social media platforms, they said.

Acting on the case, police identified and apprehended the accused, the officials added.

Further investigation is underway.

Police have advised the public to refrain from creating or sharing unverified content on social media, warning that such actions may invite legal consequences.(KNS)
