Srinagar, Sept. 3 -- Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary on Wednesday said that the government is closely monitoring the flood situation across Jammu and Kashmir and appealed to citizens not to panic, assuring that there is no immediate danger as water levels have started to recede.

"As far as Jammu is concerned, the rains are still going on but have subsided compared to two days ago. The water level is not as high as it was earlier. In South Kashmir, there was heavy rainfall, but overall the situation has improved. The rain has stopped and gradually water levels are receding. There is no need for panic," Choudhary told reporters.
