Jammu July 27 (KNS), July 27 -- Jammu & Kashmir is witnessing a big change in its railway network as Indian Railways upgrades tracks and passenger coaches, following the opening of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla rail link by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 6, 2025.

The new link, featuring the iconic Chenab and Anji bridges, has allowed modern machines to replace manual work, making travel smoother and safer. A tamping machine has already serviced 88 km of track, while four Ballast Cleaning Machines have cleared 14 km, supported by 19,000 cubic metres of fresh ballast.
