Srinagar, Oct. 28 -- The Jammu and Kashmir government on Tuesday informed the Assembly that an additional Rs 6,254 crore is required to complete all water supply schemes under the Jal Jeevan Mission, while the completion deadline has now been extended till December 2028.

In a written reply to a question by MLA Irfan Hafiz Lone, the government said that though all necessary steps for timely execution including administrative approvals and clearances from departments like R&B, Revenue, and Forest had been taken, the projects could not be completed within the original target date of March 2025 due to non-release of funds under the Centrally Sponsored Schemes and Union Territory Sector.
